HPC service access beyond ARCHER2

In this section we provide information for projects with ARCHER2 access that stretches past the end of service and links to other HPC services that researchers may be able to access beyond the lifetime of ARCHER2.

Not an exhaustive list or guarantee of access

This is not an exhaustive list of HPC services that researchers can access. In particular, we do not try to list local institutional HPC systems that you may be able to get access to. The inclusion of a system on this list does not guarantee you are eligible for access nor that you are guaranteed to gain access if you are eligible. It is provided for convenience only.

Projects with ARCHER2 access beyond the end of service

UKRI-funded/supported projects

If your UKRI-funded/supported project has ARCHER2 access that extends beyond the end of the ARCHER2 service as part of the awarded project resources, you should have received communication from UKRI to the Project Lead or HPC Lead regarding HPC access after the end of the ARCHER2 service. If you believe you should have been contacted about this and have not received an email from UKRI please contact researchinfrastructure@epsrc.ukri.org.

If you have questions on access beyond ARCHER2 for your UKRI-funded/supported project you can get in touch using the following details

Industry projects

Industry projects on ARCHER2 should have been contacted by EPCC to discuss arrangements beyond the end of the ARCHER2 service. If you have not been contacted by EPCC or have any questions, please get in touch via the contact listed on the ARCHER2 Industrial Engagement page.

Other projects

If you have access to ARCHER2 and do not fall into either of the categories above, you should consider access from another facility such as those listed below.

UK national HPC facilities

UK National Compute Resources (NCRs)

At the time of writing, 6 NCR resources have been confirmed by UKRI but NCR-specific access routes have not been published yet. Some resources provide legacy access routes which researchers can use:

Service Current access routes
Baskerville NCR (University of Birmingham) No access currently available
Charger NCR (UCL) No access currently available
Cirrus NCR (EPCC, Univeristy of Edinburgh) Test, academic and industry access routes available
Isambard 3 NCR (University of Bristol) No general access currently available
Mary Coombes NCR (Hartree Centre, STFC) Industry access routes available
Zenith NCR (University of Cambridge) No access currently available

EuroHPC

EuroHPC provides access to supercomputers across Europe for academic researchers and industry users. See their website for specific calls and information on how to get access.

There are also other services available which may be of interest. Details of how to access these facilities can be found on their specific websites.
